1.May 1 International Labor Day:

On May 1, 1886, more than 200,000 workers in Chicago held a general strike for the implementation of the eight-hour workday. After a hard and bloody struggle, they finally won. To commemorate this labor movement, on July 14, 1889, the Socialist Congress convened by Marxists from various countries was grandly opened in Paris, France. At the conference, the delegates unanimously agreed: May 1st be designated as a common holiday for the international proletariat. This resolution has received positive responses from workers all over the world. 2.The Chinese people’s celebration of Labor Day dates back to 1918

In 1918, some revolutionary intellectuals distributed leaflets introducing “May 1st” to the masses in Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Hankou and other places. On May 1, 1920, workers in various industrial cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Jiujiang, and Tangshan marched to the streets in a mighty manner and held a massive parade and rally.
