The Quality Impact of Laser Steel Mesh
There are mainly the following factors that will affect the quality of steel mesh:
- Production process
We have discussed the manufacturing process of steel mesh before. We can know that a good process should be electropolishing after laser cutting. After laser cutting, there will be some burrs on the inner wall of the steel hole. - Materials used
Including screen frame, wire mesh, steel sheet, adhesive glue, etc. The screen frame must be able to withstand a certain program of relays and have good levelness; it is best to use polyester mesh for the silk screen, which can maintain stable tension for a long time; it is better to use No. 304 for the steel sheet, and the matte one is better than the mirror one. It is more conducive to the rolling of solder paste (glue); the adhesive must be strong enough and able to withstand certain corrosion. - Opening design
The quality of the opening design has the greatest impact on the quality of the steel mesh. As discussed earlier, the opening design should consider the manufacturing process, width-to-thickness ratio, area ratio, experience value, etc. - Production information
The completeness of the production data will also affect the quality of the steel mesh. The more complete the information, the better. At the same time, when data coexist, it should be clear which one shall prevail. Also, generally speaking, using data files to make stencils can reduce errors as much as possible. - How to use
Correct printing methods can maintain the quality of the stencil. On the contrary, incorrect printing methods such as excessive pressure, uneven stencil or PCB during printing, etc., will cause damage to the stencil. - Cleaning
Solder paste (glue) is relatively easy to solidify. If not cleaned in time, it will block the opening of the stencil and cause difficulties in next printing. Therefore, the stencil should be cleaned in time after being removed from the machine or if solder paste is not printed on the printing press for 1 hour. - Storage
Since the outer frame of the steel mesh is made of aluminum alloy, the steel sheet is also quite thin, only about 0.1-0.2MM, and is easy to bend and break. The steel mesh should be stored in a specific place and cannot be placed randomly. This can avoid accidental damage to the steel mesh. . At the same time, do not stack steel mesh on top of each other, as this will make it difficult to hold and may bend the mesh frame.
Compare etched stencils and laser stencils together:
1. The etching process involves immersing the entire steel sheet in a chemical solution. The original glossiness of the steel sheet will be removed and become
dim. The laser process uses pulses to cut directly vertically, without contacting the surface of the steel sheet in other directions and still maintaining the cutting edge.
Keep it as it is, the surface will be brighter. But when the mirror is enabled to focus light, the etching becomes unclear.
2. Because the etching process is formed by corrosion and demoulding with chemical solutions, the right angles of the carvings form a circular arc transition, which can be seen with the naked eye.
Clearly differentiated. The laser process uses pulse vertical cutting, the laser spot is only three thousandths, and the cutting is straight.
The corner is a right-angle transition. - Taper: After the laser is focused, the opening automatically forms a taper shape, that is, after high magnification, the opening becomes an inverted trapezoid shape.
It is conducive to solder paste demoulding, that is, the opening data of the front and back sides of the laser stencil differs by 0.01~0.015mm, which is due to corrosion.
What is not available at this moment. - Accuracy, the accuracy of laser can reach 5 microns, and now the minimum opening of laser can reach 0.03mm, which can be more precise.
It is so good at completing fine-pitch and ultra-fine-pitch openings that etching cannot.
